The Alresford Community Choir was founded by Keith Clark in January 2012, with the generous support of Hampshire Music Service, ensuring that we have had initial funding for our Director, Accompanist and music hire, and motivation for more than 120 members to come together to enjoy singing. Hampshire Music Service is funding and organising our first performance, in Winchester Cathedral, alongside our singers and groups.
After the success of our first joint venture in Winchester Cathedral in March 2012 we prepared for two more performances of Zimbe!
In June and July we performed two concerts in St John's Church, Alresford and were joined by the Hampshire County Youth Choir and the Hampshire County Children's Choir. The first half of each concert consisted of individual items by each of the choirs and in the second half we performed Zimbe! This rounded off, in spectacular style, our first six months.
All of us have the capacity to improve.
Our Director is often telling members that they have everything that they need to become great singers. In the future, we will continue to challenge members to develop individually, as well as within the choir.
This is what we mean by our Voice Academy.
If you have any ideas to help us in this task, don't be shy, please let us know!
The choir started the new term on September 14th
All live rehearsals and workshops are cancelled until further notice but we do all we can to keep activities going in some form and to prepare for live singing events when and where we can!
Although we are not meeting for our usual practices, workshops and concerts at the moment, if you want to know more about how to join, and for up-to-date detailed information, including about our membership subscriptions, please go to Join Us!
